Parents and Friends
Parents & Friends Association
The GHS Parents' and Friends Association meets monthly prior to the School Council meeting at the school and is open to all parents, guardians and friends of Geelong High School. Everyone is encouraged to join this group which is actively involved in various school activities ranging from discussions about policy and directions, through to fundraising.
The association provides an excellent point of connection between the school and the parents of the students who attend the school. It allows parents to contribute, in many different ways, to making their children’s education rich and positive.
Over recent years the Parents and Friends Association have had input into a number of areas, including discussion about uniform, parent teacher interviews, allocation of resources and the development of the school master plan.
Many matters of policy arise within a school setting, and the Parents' and Friends Association is a legitimate and constructive participant in consultation and debate and a forum where parents can be actively involved in positively influencing the education of their children.
The Parents and Friends Association is an important vehicle for the exchange of information and ideas between parents and the school's administration. A representative of the Parents’ and Friends Association attends School Council meetings and provides the parents of the school with a voice on the School Council.
The Principal, Glenn Davey, regularly attends Parents and Friends meetings to report on school events, discuss matters that arise, clarify points, and listen to the points of view expressed by parents.
