Material Charges
What are Material Charges? Material charges relate to activities that are additional to the basic curriculum program. These charges represent costs beyond what the School Council has to allocate from the School Global Budget towards the enhanced program provided for your child. Geelong High School Council School Charges Policy states that students wishing to participate in extra curricula activities such as camps, excursions, dinners, instrumental music, etc., must meet the full cost of the activity and be up-to-date with all payments before the student participates.
Years 9, 10 and VCE
The cost at these levels depends entirely upon the range of subjects chosen. There is a minimal requirement for parents to purchase text books as there is a greater use of class sets and photocopied materials. A materials charge is associated with each subject unit of approx. $10 (this replaces the cost of a text book) and the approximate cost of planned activities and excursions will vary from unit to unit. This information is available in the Curriculum Handbook. The costs associated with VCE books/stationery depend on subjects and are published in the Curriculum.
Voluntary Charges
• School Magazine $25.00 *
• Community Support $25.00 (Tax Deductible) *
• Parents’ & Friends’ Association $10.00 *
• Building Fund $20.00 (Tax Deductible) *
Travel Allowance
Travel Allowance (Conveyance) is NO LONGER available for new students at Geelong High School.
If you are a Geelong High School parent who currently receives Conveyance for their child, you will continue to do so until the completion of Year 12. If you move or change address (even within Leopold) your conveyance will cease from the date of the change of address.
Reprinting of Reports
If you require your school reports to be re-printed the charges are:
- Reports less than five years since exiting school $5.00
- Reports after five year since exiting school, $20.00
Money will be refunded if the reports are not available.
