The VCAL certificate gives students the opportunity to build employability skills, personal development skills, industry experience as well as numeracy and literacy skills. The certificate is designed for students wishing to pursue a career pathway involving an apprenticeship, employment or TAFE.

VCAL Program

The Geelong High School VCAL program is an innovative, practical and multi-disciplinary program for students who enjoy applied learning opportunities. Students have the potential to gain multiple qualifications including industry qualifications and improve their employability skills after school. The curriculum will tie in key units of VCAL with topics, projects and community programs that are relevant to the student while building on literacy and numeracy skills. Each student has the opportunity to complete Structured Work Placement for 25 days to establish industry networks and increase employment opportunities.

The VCAL program extends students to improve communication skills, self-esteem, team work, organisation and leadership skills. VCAL is an exciting opportunity for students who enjoy challenges and would like to make themselves more employable and prepared for work after school.
