VET –Vocational Education and Training in School

VET Delivered to Secondary Students programs are nationally accredited vocational certificates that may be undertaken as part of a student’s senior study program.

VET Delivered to Secondary Students offers students the opportunity to:

  • combine general and vocational studies
  • explore career options and pathways
  • undertake learning in the workplace
  • undertake applied learning in an adult learning environment
  • gain a nationally recognised qualification or credit towards a qualification that contributes to satisfactory completion of the VCE or VCAL
  • develop skills that will equip them for the workforce

Building (Carpentry or Brick) Children Services
Clothing Design Community Service
Dance Desktop Publishing
Electrical Engineering

Information Technology Multimedia
Music Industry Plumbing


VET Delivered to Secondary Students programs approved by VCAA that are fully recognised can contribute towards satisfactory completion of the VCE and VCAL. VET Delivered to Secondary Students programs can contribute to a student’s ATAR in the following ways: selected VET Delivered to Secondary Students programs offer scored assessment for Units 3 and 4 and other programs will contribute as a fifth or sixth increment. Please refer to individual program information for the exact contribution of each VET Delivered to Secondary Students program.


VET Delivered to Secondary Students at Geelong High School


The majority of GHS students attend The Gordon while some students attend other local schools and organisations to complete their VET Delivered to Secondary Students program. Classes are conducted on a Wednesday starting at 1.30 and finishing at approximately 5.30pm. Please note some VET Delivered to Secondary Students programs require students to complete holiday classes and structured work placement as part of their course delivery method.

Certificate II/III in VCE VET Dance is conducted at Geelong High School and this popular course attracts students from all over Geelong. Students are able to complete this course in the new GHS Dance Studio. The Certificate II/III in VCE VET Dance offers students the chance to receive scored assessment that contributes to their ATAR.
