Hands On Learning - Grant

Hands on Learning is into the swing of things, with the students settling in nicely. Recently the HOL team went on an excursion to Point Lonsdale with the Bellarine Catchment Networks. The excursion was all about giving back to the community and the students were part of a community project to enhance the environmental values of the Bellarine. The students were involved in a walk and talk through the vegetation, animals, sustainable agriculture and land management practices and being involved in protecting and managing the natural environment. Hats off to our host Naomi Wells and to the students for doing a great job and really getting engaged.

The students are now into the next individual project in building a wall clock from old wooden pallets, and thus far starting to take shape and looking great, stay in tune for the finished projects.

We are also very privileged to announce that the HOL team in Rohan Butler and Michael Jackson were in the process of applying for a grant from the Leopold Bendigo Community Bank of $33000 for our shed, garden tools, hand and power tools. In saying that we can now confirm that we were granted $20674.50 toward our shed. This will go along way to making a difference to students and build on wellbeing, engagement, and attendance by creating opportunities for students to discover their talents and experience success through significant and authentic hands-on projects, with a place to belong and call their own. We accepted our award last night at the Leopold Sportsman’s Club. To finish up and on behalf of the HOL team Rohan, Michael and the students we would like to pass our sincere gratitude and appreciation on to the Leopold Bendigo Community Bank for their generosity and support. If you are not with the Bendigo Bank support your community and get on board.
